Orlando, FL September 28, 2006 - DiSTI, a global leader in the development of
Human Machine Interface (HMI) software, was selected by AAI Corporation to
support the upgrade of the Air Force T-25 Simulator for Electronic Combat
Training (SECT) system. DiSTI will be delivering GL Studio® tools and services
under the terms of the contract.
The T-25 SECT system is a software-based training aid for electronic
countermeasures hosted on commercial, off-the-shelf personal computers.
Students at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas will use interactive
combat laboratory exercises as well as simulated training missions to learn the
principles of electronic countermeasures.
DiSTI will use their next generation HMI development toolkit, GL Studio, to
design and develop the cockpit instruments. These instruments will be displayed
across three touch screen monitors driven by a single computer. The training
device will have the ability to reconfigure instrument palettes based on the
selected training scenario. Each display palette will simulate the wide variety
of equipment at the electronic warfighter's disposal.
A partial list of the displays to be developed include a digital signal
oscilloscope, a radio intercom panel, a direction finder, a radar warning
receiver, and threat jammer panels. These panels and others will be developed
through photographs of the actual devices or through devices already developed
by DiSTI and residing in their Reusable Software Object (RSO) library.
The GL Studio based solution will deliver a high fidelity hands on training
system with substantially lower development, maintenance and operational costs
compared to traditional hardware based solutions. The use of inexpensive COTS
computer hardware will help maintain operational readiness and simplify
logistics support by reducing spares requirements.
