DiSTI Selected for Courseware Simulations
D.P. Associates Inc. Integrates GL Studio
ORLANDO, FL, August 1, 2005 - Distributed Simulation Technology, Inc. [DiSTI] a leading provider of software tools and components for the development of advanced visual and simulation applications, today announced that D.P. Associates Inc., (DPA) recently selected GL Studio to create interactive 3D content for their next generation US Navy courseware projects.
DPA prides itself in delivering cost effective, high quality training products. Their typical courseware combines 2D and 3D drawings and animations with high quality audio and video. DPA wanted to enhance their capabilities and give their customers a totally interactive experience. According to DPA multimedia coordinator, Henry Boisvert, "We see the levels of interaction available in flight simulators and want to use the same technology in our CBT products. We were not able to efficiently achieve this with traditional content development tools. GL Studio was selected as a cost effective, high fidelity, simulation development toolset".
High level interactivity affords the learner an opportunity to quickly master cognitive learning objectives and experience simple and complex procedures. GL Studio creates photorealistic 2D and 3D simulations of any system, device, instrument or display. GL Studio's Reusable Software Objects are easily integrated into courseware.
Many instruments and panels are common among several airframes and once built with GL Studio's object oriented technology, can be reused many times to save the Navy time and money.
DPA is planning to use GL Studio simulation technology to enhance new courseware being developed for the MH-60R and MH-60S Operator & Maintainer computer-based training (CBT) courses.
DPA is also planning to upgrade several existing Navy/Marine aviation CBT courses supporting both fixed-wing and rotary-wing communities.
D.P. Associates Inc., headquartered in Arlington, VA, a wholly owned subsidiary of L3 Communications headquartered in New York City, is a technical services organization with a primary focus on leading edge training systems analysis, design, development and implementation. DPA has provided technical support services to the Naval Air Systems Command Integrated Product Teams, Divisions, and Field Activities since 1987.
