DiSTI®  releases the GL Studio Vega Prime module
for rapid integration of instrumentation into a Vega Prime scene

ORLANDO, FL, April 29, 2003 - DiSTI has released the GL Studio Vega Prime module for GL Studio version 2.1 and Vega Prime version 1.1 and 1.2. GL Studio is a rapid prototyping, design and deployment tool for creating realtime 3D photo realistic graphical displays, such as instrumentation and flight displays for simulation and training applications. GL Studio generates portable C++ and OpenGL source code and will allow rapid integration with the highly customizable and extensible architecture of MultiGen-Paradigm’s Vega Prime product line. GL Studio for Vega Prime will allow for GL Studio objects to be included in the Vega Prime scene, along side other objects. These objects can then interact with the user and with other Vega Prime objects to produce realistic and effective training and simulation applications that utilize symbology and instrumentation. All of this behavior will be accessible dynamically through Lynx Prime.

GL Studio permits users to take photo imagery of any physical device or control interface and build tremendously realistic instrumentation as well as heads up displays, text overlays and electronic flight information systems. By using GL Studio, Vega Prime users will be able to save substantial engineering hours and produce high quality OpenGL compliant instrumentation that fulfill the specific requirements of their applications.

“In the past, the integration of GL Studio objects into a scene graph was left as an exercise for the programmer," said Joe Swinski, president of DiSTI. "With this new plug-in technology the marriage of GL Studio components with Vega Prime is a simple configuration choice from menu selections.”

“The addition of this integrated module will allow Vega Prime users to effectively add photo-realistic instrumentation and gauges to visual simulation applications, much more easily than was possible before,” said Christian Cole, Vega Prime product manger for MultiGen-Paradigm. The addition of these objects to Vega Prime will allow for greater realism and flexibility in applications requiring these types of objects for training and simulation.”
